500888 Crecy War Sword
Crecy War Sword The long series of campaigns between England and France from 1337 to 1453, known collectively as the Hundred years War (although it actually spanned 120 years), all took place in France. The war had its origin in disputes over lands held in fief by the English crown, the aid given by the French to the Scots in their wars against England and French interference with the profitable wool trade between the English and Flemish cities. The war began when Edward III of England claimed his right to the French throne through his mother Isabella, daughter of the French King Philip IV. We have chosen two sword types, one French, one English, that saw service during this period . Includes leather scabbard. Crecy War Sword-named for the crushing victory by the English in 1346. Steel pommel and guard with wood and leather grip. Well-tempered blade. Overall-451/2" Blade-36" long, 1 5/8" wide, 3/16" thick Wt-2 3/4" lbs.

500892 English Cut & Thrust
English Cut & Thrust - Although the rapier was prominent across Europe, the English were in general loath to give up a wider blade that could deliver a deadly cut. This sword is typical of the type used with a steel targe or dagger that would be carried by the London Home Bands that were formed in response to the constant threat from Spain. The ringed steel hilt and steel pommel balanced the sword nicely for fine fencing- type point work while the blade was wide enough to cut well. The grip is wood covered in leather. Scabbard included. Overall-41 1/4" * Blade-35 3/16" x 1 5/8" x 3/16" * Wt-3 lbs.

500922 Brass Basket-hilt Claymore
Brass Basket-hilt Claymore - This Scottish Basket-hilt Claymore is the equal of any raised by clansmen, as they overran the English at the Battle of Falkirk on Jan. 17th, 1746. The pierced basket-hilt is a faithful reproduction of one found on the Culloden Moor. The fully tempered high carbon steel blade is of the typical fullered, double-edge, broadsword pattern of the 1740's. The basket also has a rich red velvet liner and a scabbard is included for this great price. Overall-39 1/2" * Blade-32 1/2" long, 1 3/4" wide, 3/16" thick * Wt.-3 lbs. 14 oz.

500928 Flared Long Sword
Flared Long Sword - This type of Long Sword is pictured in many period fighting manuals. The simple hilt form allows for a varied amount of grips and is even portrayed in a strike while gripping the blade, a maneuver that seems odd at best. The simplicity of the hilt does limit the amount of hand protection, but this is somewhat remedied by the flaring blade that forms a lower guard that functions like parrying hooks. An interesting sword type that is a must for students of European swordplay. Comes with scabbard. Overall-48" Blade-38" long, 3 1/2" wide 3/16" thick Wt.-3 lbs. 8 oz.
